Let's see...our beloved goat left this morning when Kevin went to work. I'm not really sad to see him go, but Emily sure liked him. She suggested that perhaps we get rid of Bud and instead go buy a goat of our own. I don't think we will follow her suggestion. Apparently, the goat was very missed by his owners and they were extatic to see him come home.
Kevin and I have also been called as Nursey Leaders at church, for the 3rd time. We have gotten too many kids and have had to split the nursery. We are the lucky new leaders. They let us decide whether or not we wanted Tyler in our class and we decided that we'd take him. That way we'll know at least one of the kid's names in our class. We've been helping out in the nursery for a few weeks and they've finally split the classes, so we'll be on our own starting this Sunday. Which also happens to be the first weekend of the hunt. I told Kevin that he is required to find himself a replacement.
Life is moving along as usual. Owen is crawling on his knees now, but still falls over backwards every once in a while when he is sitting down. He's getting big so fast. He has learned to get out of his bumbo, so that no longer does us any good.
Tyler is in the process of being tested to receive speech therapy through the school district. He is 2 1/2 and is pretty much un-understandable (is that a word?). Our doctor gave us the number for a program that is free (or at a reduced rate) and they have done their initial evaluation at our home. They think he is a great candidate and will most likely be accepted. We will be hearing from their speech therapist and nurse within the next couple of weeks to set up appointments to see him. The best part is that they do all the therapy sessions and whatnot at our house. I don't have to worry about going anywhere. :)
Emily has gone through a growth spurt this summer. Her and Tyler used to only be a few inches apart in height, but she now almost towers over him. We are working on teaching her the basics of the alphabet and counting. She can count to 20 (almost) and has known the ABCs since she was 2. She recognizes almost all of her letters and can write a handful of them. She can write her name and it's very cute. I'll have to post a picture of it soon.
That is what is going on at the Merrithew house...we'll let you know if anything really exciting happens. :)

I think you guys should petition to be Elder's Quorum and Relief Society Presidents. That would get you out of nursery!
So, with Emily growing, do you know her dress size? Is she just as skinny, but now taller? I promise to make that dress for her. I've definitely got the fabric! (I have a pattern, too)
Oh, I forgot. You should have a funeral for the goat. Make a salt clay representation of him and bury him in the back yard. I think it would be a good project for your kids. Emily could write his name on a gravestone. That way it's a learning experience. :)
As we left the theatre the only thing that kept going through my mind: "This is SO not a kids movie." and "Is Rachel really dead?"
I think I'd be glad to see the goat go too.
What are you going to do with Owen? Is he going to be in nursery too? I don't think parents of toddlers should be called to nursery. They need a day of rest, not a day of over-exertion. Give me your bishop's name and number and I'll set him straight. Well, maybe you'll love it. I should be more positive.
That's awesome that they can do therapy at your house. That will be so much easier for you.
