I need your help! I am in desperate need of suggestions of books I should read. I've been on a reading kick lately, but when I get to the library I have absolutely no idea what to read. I've never ventured far from the few authors that I know I like and I want to change that. I'd also like to read some good nonfiction books. I like John Grisham, Maeve Binchy, Jack Weyland, Mary Higgins Clark, Agatha Christie, and Jane Austen. I usually stick to these very few authors and I want to find something new!!So...leave comments suggesting any books you can think of that you've read or you've heard are good. I want to try new things! :)

K, I like a lot of the same authors that you do soooo maybe you'll like my suggestion: Kathy Reichs. Have you heard of Bones (TV show)? That show is based on her books. I just love them and read them so fast. I don't have a particular one I would start with, they are all their own story.
Let me know if you try her out!
k, I don't have a specific book to recommend, but I have heard of a website called Good Reads that is suppose to help you find good books and I think gives reviews on them. Check it out, see if that helps.
You should read Nicholas Sparks books and "the Book Thief" was really good. Good Reads is a community forum where people read books and leave feedback, etc. I've read a few mariah Stewart, they're all right-some are a little too romantical for my taste. I read Tess Gerritsen. She's a doctor turned writer. I would read them in order, the library or Barnes and Noble.com can tell you which came first. They don't all follow each other, but her latest ones have some of the same characters in them. Good Luck-read a few for me.
For Tess Gerritsen, you want to read "the surgeon" and those types. She started by writing short romances I guess many moons ago before doing medical/police books.
I hate to say it, but you should check out the Twilight series. They're a really good quick, mindless read.
Hi Merr...
I have been reading some too lately, but I have been reading the young adult books. They are usually fun quick reads. I have also been reading some survivor's stories from WWII. Stories written by people who survived the camps.
I just finished a YA booked called The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. It is a horror/thriller/drama of sorts. Zombies and all, but it was a good fast read. Took me about a day to read it, not even. I read Gingerbread by Rachel Cohn and enjoye that. I am working on The Book Thief and it is really great. I hear The Graveyard Book is a great read and I plan to start that next. If you like a good love story Nicholas Sparks writes lovely books too.
I see Whitney has suggested the Twilight series and I also really enjoyed those books.
Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorites for a fun light read. The Undomestic Godess, Confessions of a Shopaholic (there are a number of those books), Can you Keep a Secret, Remember Me. Good stuff.
Oh! A great read is The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. A great book that every one should read. IMHO
