Camping Trip

We officially took our camper out for its first run this weekend and had a great time.

We saw a pretty rainbow on our drive to our campground.

Here is the view from our campground.  Gorgeous.

Here is our little camping spot.  The Jeep doesn't look like it should be able to pull our camper even though it is very small.  It made it okay, but we certainly weren't getting anywhere really fast.

Our first stop was Fremont Indian State Park.  Our campground was just a few miles away and this was the reason we went down there in the first place.  I somewhat remember going as a child, but not really.

They had a little play area in the museum for the kids.  They loved the mud hut where the Indians used to live.  Of course, the real ones did not have a staircase up to the top. lol
I'm not sure if you can really see them in the first picture, but you can really see them in the second.  There were rock carvings all over around the museum with fun trails to hike on to see them.  If you click on the pictures they will get bigger and you can see the pictures better.

I can't remember if that rock had anything on it or if we just took it for fun.  Owen is so stubborn and doesn't seem to like his picture taken these days.  He looks like a grump in pretty much every picture we have of him from this weekend.

This is the top of a recreated mud hut.  It is just a mound with a ladder coming out the top as an entrance and for the smoke from their fires to escape. (Mom...this is what I was telling you I remembered as a child.  This one spot was all I could remember from going there.)
Here they are inside the house.  It was amazingly light inside.  We asked if they wanted to live in a house like that and they all kindly declined. lol  I bet they were nice and warm in the winter with a fire going, but were really hot in the summer when it was time to cook dinner.

This is just phase one of the trip.  I'll post the rest separately so it isn't a huge really long post.

Thanks to Melissa for telling me how to finally get the pictures in the order that I want them.  It was so much less stressful this time around. :)

Looks like a fun little weekend getaway!
And your welcome for the tip! Since I found out about that blog that told me how to do that, I have thought it was much easier to post pictures too, especially if you have several pics to post. Glad it was easier this time around! :)
